Project:
Chloe Sustainable product design
This was such a fun and exciting project for my group and I to work on. The brief was to create a sustainably made piece for $20 or less for any luxury fashion brand of our choice. We immediately knew that we wanted to make a handbag, and we thought that Chloe would be a great luxury brand to design a sustainable bag for.
In order to make this bag, we went antique shopping. Using an old leather-bound antique book that we found, we cut out the pages to create the body of the bag. The rest of the pieces used were an old bag chain and scraps of leather that were leftover materials from an accessories design class that I had taken. I created the gussets for the bag, and then cut holes in the book cover with an awl to attach the chain.
Probably one of my favorite parts of this project was the photoshoot. We chose to do it at the gardens of The Ships of The Sea Maritime Museum in Savannah, Georgia. It was an absolutely stunning location that gave us the exact look we wanted for our advertisements. I sourced the photographer and worked with her to edit the pictures exactly how we envisioned. In addition to working on the physical bag creation, I also assisted creating the advertising mockups for this project.
